PhD Thesis Summary

Enzymatic Biofuel Cells (EBFCs) have emerged as an eco-friendly energy producing technology based on the capacity of naturally available redox enzymes to transform a wide diversity of fuel and oxidants with high specificity and high efficiency. In EBFC fuel (glucose) and oxidant (O2) are the prime sources for the efficient, clean energy generation because they are abundantly available in all organic material especially in human blood, saliva, and urine. Therefore, it could be serve as long lasting, pollution free and efficient energy production source for several low powered devices and sensor. In the present work, the three different device fabrication technology such as Paper based, 3D printing and Soft-lithography with several commercially accessible electrodes material and improved electrochemistry have been used to develop miniaturized MM-EBFC. These techniques not only simple, cost-efficient and user friendly but also offers rapidly analyzed one step fabrication without pre and post processing treatment. This proposed device fabrication technology and adopted electrochemistry has resulted in improved performance and results similar to those reported in the literature and has demonstrated their potential as a viable alternative. Due to their fabrication technology and improved performance, these devices have a significant amount of research and development potential to power a range of portable low-power devices. In addition, these devices can be further used as power hub for wireless data transmission using IoT technology where the low powered sensor (temperature, humidity) will be enable. In addition to tracking environmental parameters, EBFC can also be used as a power hub for wireless data transmission using IoT technology.
